Sitting in the woods, looking above, the leaves of the trees illuminated by spring's sun; behind me, a log upon which I rest my back; listening to Toe. Words cannot describe how it felt.

I hadn't given myself time in nature alone in ages. Work normally swallows all of the day I can use, and weekends bring endless extra curricular. But this was a bank holiday, and I was going to take a break.

With my speaker, phone and lunch secured, I headed into the nearby woods to escape the sight of this concrete jungle. Taking whichever path felt right in a new area of that forest, I ended up seeing a thin tree bent like an arch inviting me into a clearish area with a lovely place to sit among the thinly spaced bramble bushes. A portal to the world I first described. I intended to draw, but I ended up just listening to the music, and allowing time to pass for a while.

Before May leaves us, take a listen to this math rock band. They sound like spring in a most tragically living way. The sound of life -- desperate, beautiful, busy, wonderful.

If possible, watch an anime called Sonny Boy before listening to a mix on YouTube (using a browser like Brave or some other means of ad blocking) with the song 'Rhapsody', or the album 'NOW I SEE THE LIGHT'. You will not regret it.
